    Grant Grove

    Located in the King's Canyon National Park, Grant Grove is probably best known as the home of the General Grant Tree. This tree is the third largest tree in the world, as well as the Nation's Christmas Tree. Grant Grove also contains camping areas, lakes and hiking trails. It is closed to vehicles in the winter from November to May.

    Eldorado National Forest

    The Eldorado is located south and west of Lake Tahoe and features campgrounds, picnic areas and cabins. No visitor center is available on the site, but information can be obtained at the office in Placerville.

    Inyo National Forest

    Located in California's Eastern Sierra, the Inyo National Forest encompasses over two million acres filled with natural wonders. Recreational opportunities include camping, picnicking, hiking, backpacking, equestrian use and off-highway vehicle use. There are also two ski resorts that offer snowboarding and alpine skiing, as well as 45 miles of groomed trails ideal for cross-country skiing.

    Crystal Caves
    The caves are located in Sequoia National Park and were discovered in 1918. To view the caves visitors must be part of a guided tour. Tour tickets can be purchased at Foothills or Lodgepole visitor centers. The caves are closed between September and mid-May.

    Yosemite National Park
